Apple Blossom Festival @ Davies Heritage Orchard

Come enjoy a family-friendly spring event in historic Davies Orchard, Crippen Regional Park. There will be a tea house, mini-farmers’ market and seed sale, tours of the orchard and museum cottage, apple-blossom photography and a parasol painting workshop for youth 5+ – participants paint and take home a parasol. Workshop cost $15.

What is home? Explore the nature of home on Bowen Island/ Nexwlélexm in this series of four talks, presentations, movies, stories and more.

Fiona Beaty is the project director of the Howe Sound/Atl’kitsem Marine Reference Guide, a multi-stakeholder initiative to protect regional marine environmental health by creating decision-support tools and resources for governments, First Nations, marine stakeholders, and community members.

Join author Donaleen Saul for a blockbusting one-day writing workshop. Victoria-based writer, editor and writing coach Donaleen is bringing her inspiring word-smithing to Bowen Island. Writing into the Belly of the Whale is a facilitated one-day writing marathon for the lapsed, stuck, frustrated, distracted, bored, haunted and/or hungry writer who feels called to a worldly adventure. Spring Concert • Bowen Island Community Choir @ Cates Hill Chapel
May 4 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

It’s time for the Bowen Island Community Choir’s annual spring concert.  From Big Band Swing and Bohemian Rhapsody to Samba and Salsa, the Choir will be singing and swinging a variety of tunes. Several special guest musicians will be accompanying the choir.

Two concert times on Saturday May 4 –  2:30 PM and 7:30 PM. Advance tickets available at Cates Pharmacy or at the door. Adults $20 and Senior & Students $15. Hope to see you there!

This is an exhibition which is not for the faint of heart, but is also one that affirms the incredible capacity of the human spirit to not only survive the most unimaginable circumstances but thrive. These artists powerful work stands as a testament to their existence and will inspire similar voices for generations to come.

Dog, Meet Horse – special animal meet up & training @ Crippen Regional Park Equestrian Ring

A special event bringing dogs and horses together. Limited space for dogs, so sign up early. Minimum $10 donation per dog.

High Bar Gang • Live Concert @ Tir-na-nOg Theatre

Since the band was formed in the summer of 2010, the High Bar Gang has been bringing its unique take on old time bluegrass to the people of Western Canada.

Vocal harmony is key to the band’s sound, and the blend of Shari Ulrich, Wendy Bird and Kirby Barber along with guitarist Barney Bentall and banjo player Dave Barber is simply stunning. Supported by Rob Becker on bass, and Colin Nairne on guitar and mandolin, the band’s repertoire stays firmly rooted in the golden age of bluegrass music with songs by the likes of Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers and Del McCoury. From well beyond the borders of our Bowen Island, the HEARTH brings a powerful exhibit of 19 contemporary Syrian artists to the Gallery @ Cove Commons.

Behind the Lines is a partnership between: the Penticton Art Gallery and the Cyrrus Gallery Damascus. Curated by Paul Crawford, Penticton Art Gallery, BC

This is an exhibition which is not for the faint of heart, but is also one that affirms the incredible capacity of the human spirit to not only survive the most unimaginable circumstances but thrive. These artists powerful work stands as a testament to their existence and will inspire similar voices for generations to come.

It’s time for the Bowen Island Community Choir’s annual spring concert.  From Big Band Swing and Bohemian Rhapsody to Samba and Salsa, the Choir will be singing and swinging a variety of tunes. Several special guest musicians will be accompanying the choir.

High Bar Gang • Live Concert @ Tir-na-nOg Theatre

Since the band was formed in the summer of 2010, the High Bar Gang has been bringing its unique take on old time bluegrass to the people of Western Canada.

Vocal harmony is key to the band’s sound, and the blend of Shari Ulrich, Wendy Bird and Kirby Barber along with guitarist Barney Bentall and banjo player Dave Barber is simply stunning. Supported by Rob Becker on bass, and Colin Nairne on guitar and mandolin, the band’s repertoire stays firmly rooted in the golden age of bluegrass music with songs by the likes of Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers and Del McCoury. Behind the Lines is a partnership between: the Penticton Art Gallery and the Cyrrus Gallery Damascus. Curated by Paul Crawford, Penticton Art Gallery, BC

This is an exhibition which is not for the faint of heart, but is also one that affirms the incredible capacity of the human spirit to not only survive the most unimaginable circumstances but thrive. These artists powerful work stands as a testament to their existence and will inspire similar voices for generations to come.
